In essence, when completed with all my major projects I have learned a vast amount of things this semester. Some of these projects I didn't have any idea of what I was going to construct for the assignment. I had to use critical language to identify other origins of someone else's culture that I wasn't a part of, in terms of figuring out the meaning of words and phrases. I also gained experience- this was done by using rhetorical understanding! From reading information that was once foreign to me, I taught myself how to connect with the culture by learning their social norms. When it came down to revising my essay, I made sure that I seek peer reviews from my fellow classmates and professor. The purpose of this was done to determine and ensure that my writings were engaging and held the attention of my readers. The question of- what genre of language are you most familiar with and where does your familiarity come from? To answer this question, I’m most familiar with the genre of poetry. I feel as though I’m more comfortable and “closer” to the means of poetry just because I allude to the way the words evoke emotions when a poet is performing their craft to us viewers. When it comes down to me communicating with others o0f different nature, I have mastered the ways and ideas of cultural competence. The phrase “culture” often refers to the values of beliefs, characteristics, and actions of acceptance. I had to remind myself that not everyone will/would think the same way as myself. This also ties in with not being biased towards others systems and beliefs- and to sure that this complexity does not occur- I'm always sure to surround myself around a diverse choice of friend groups, I’ve participated in numerous culture research projects as the semesters went one, and when I have questions about someone's said culture- im sure to listen closely with care and interest.
